Detour

Detour is a classic Noir film known for both it’s low budget and production qualities and also it’s surrealistic and atmospheric story elements. The story is wrought with logical problems, but somehow breaks apart under scrutiny the right way, making a believable, if self deluded whiner of a main character who has convinced himself he’s the victim.

This film was received well when it came out, fell into a bit of obscurity from the late 60s through the 70s, then somewhere in the late 70s to mid 80s was revived again and hailed as one of the signature and most iconic Noir films ever made. That’s basically where it stands today, so it’s pretty great it’s available in the Public Domain. Please watch this movie.
